Premier League outfit Southampton are close to wrapping up a deal to sign Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly, according to Tuttosport.
With Romanian defender Florin Gardos suffering a difficult injury, the Saints decided to recruit another quality centre-back and are now on the verge of signing the highly rated Frenchman.
Tuttosport understands that Southampton have all but agreed a €12 million deal with Napoli that will see the 24-year-old move to St Mary’s.
Kalidou Koulibaly only joined the Azzurri last summer from Genk, but he quickly proved his worth at Stadio San Paolo.
The centre-back went on to start 27 Serie A matches for the club, scoring one goal, while also featuring in two Champions League fixtures and seven Europa League games.
Koulibaly has yet to be handed his France debut, but the proposed move to Southampton should improve his chances of making les Bleus squad for the 2016 European Championship.
