German newspaper Kicker has revealed that Bayer Leverkusen star Sidney Sam has all but agreed to join Schalke at the end of the season.
The 25-year-old has exploded onto the biggest stage this season, managing 7 goals and 5 assists in 13 Bundesliga matches.
He has in turn attracted interest from top European clubs and he looks set to leave his current employers at the end of the campaign.
Namely, even if Sam has a contract until June 2015 at Bay Arena, a release clause in his deal will allow him to leave for mere €2.5 million next summer.
And Kicker has now learned that the player has agreed a deal in principle with Schalke, who are expected to match the buy-out clause as soon as the summer transfer window opens.
Bayer Leverkusen officials have been trying to persuade the forward to extend his current contract, but their attempts did not come to fruition.
