Sky Sports News reports that Aston Villa has completed the acquisition of Chelsea midfielder Steven Sidwell.
Sidwell has apparently penned a three year contract after completing a medical and agreeing to personal terms. The 25 year old found opportunities hard to come by in a midfield boasting the likes of Frank Lampard, Michael Essien and Michael Ballack and so a move was almost certain this summer.
The former England U-21 was delighted to join Villa saying, “I’m just over the moon to be able to join a club of this stature.†His arrival has likely paved the way for the departure of Gareth Barry to Liverpool which will reportedly cost the Reds at least £16 million and Steve Finnan.
