Gylfi Sigurdsson admits he is considering his future after starring for Swansea City during his loan spell from Hoffenheim.

The Iceland international joined the Premier League outfit in January on a six-month loan from the Bundesliga side and has since scored three goals in seven games, including both strikes in Saturday’s 2-0 away win over Wigan.

The 22-year-old midfielder told Sky Sports: “Of course I’m curious about my future. It’s not up to me as I’ve another two seasons left at Hoffenheim but I don’t want to sit on the bench there for any longer.”

“Hoffenheim were in contact a couple of weeks ago and I spoke briefly to the new manager, Markus Babbel. I think he’s going to give me a call later this month and speak to me again. We’ll see what happens.”

The former Reading man took the opportunity to explain how much he is enjoying playing at the Liberty Stadium under manager Brendan Rodgers, for whom he previously played at Reading.

“(Rodgers) gave me my chance, I owe a lot to him,” Siugurdsson said.

“I just want to play football. I’m very happy here at the moment and hopefully things will get sorted in the summer. I don’t know what’s going to happen.”

“At the moment I’m just concentrating on playing football and playing well for Swansea and trying to help them stay in the league. Once you’re over that 40-point mark then we can start looking up.”

“You’re not going to turn down Premier League football when you’re out of the side at Hoffenheim.”

Of the club’s win over Wigan on Saturday, Sigurdsson commented: “It was a massive win, especially after losing the last couple of matches, and I was delighted with the goals.”

“We knew it was going to be a hard game, they’re fighting for their lives in this league, and the boys did fantastically well after we went down to 10 men.”
