David Silva has guaranteed a “mad festival” for his team-mates if Manchester City realise their English Premier League title ambitions.
City are in prime position to claim their first top-tier title since 1968, leading cross-town rivals Manchester United by two points at the top of the English Premier League standings.
And Silva said the collection of characters in the City dressing room would ensure an epic celebration if they bring home the title.
“There is only one fear in our squad – my promise that I will organise a mad festival if we win the Premier League,” Silva said.
“We have Sergio (Aguero) and his arrival this season has increased the ‘Spanish’ flavour.”
“We also have the ‘king of anecdotes’ in Mario (Balotelli), who is so unpredictable both on the field and the street – and then we have plenty of controversy in Carlos.”
“Actually we all know he is a big player and we are glad to have Carlos back. He really could help us in the decisive final stage of the season.”
Silva admitted the season has not panned out as he had predicted, but he has come to expect this from his time in England.
“In the summer my bet for the title was City, United or Chelsea. I didn’t include Spurs and Arsenal but, in any case, a lot has changed and now the race is between United and us,” he said.
“After my two seasons in England I know there is no such thing as an easy match.”
“Now each one is a like a cup final because both ourselves and United need all the victories we can get because, in the end, just one point could be decisive.”
The Spaniard has highlighted City’s clash with United as the key game in the title run-in and knows their opponents will be out for revenge.
“The Manchester derby in April will be very important. If we maintain a two-point advantage going into it and increase our lead to five by beating United it will calm us all – but we know it will be a very complicated game,” Silva said.
“United defeated us in the FA Cup after we won 6-1 at Old Trafford, so revenge will be in the air.”
“United have more experience of these situations than us but I am convinced City offered the better game. Fans enjoy watching our attacking play and we deserve to be the league leaders.”
