Silva ready to sign new contract at City

A report from the Daily Mail suggests that Manchester City are on the verge on agreeing terms with David Silva on a new long-term contract, believed to be around £200,000-a-week.

It is thought the Citizens are offering a five-year-deal that will be too good for Silva to turn down and keep him in the English Premier League for the foreseeable future.

The Spaniard seems to be very happy in Manchester at the moment and is keen to deliver plenty of trophies to the Ethiad Stadium. He also wants the team to mount a serious challenge for the Champions League.

This news is sure to give everyone at the Ethiad a huge boost as Silva is one of the team’s most prized assets and a key figure in delivering success.

The playmakers future was coming under some doubt over the summer transfer window, with some of Europe’s biggest sides reportedly keeping tabs on him.

Real Madrid were believed to be one of those teams, which would have worried Roberto Mancini, giving their spending power and the fact that the Spanish international could link up with a lot of his fellow countrymen.

However, Silva looks ready to commit his future to Manchester City, something that Mancini will be delighted about.
