Speaking after the 3-1 win over Rotherham United in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday, Everton manager Marco Silva expressed his desire for Sandro Ramirez to stay with the club this season.
Ramirez spent the second half of last season on loan at Sevilla, and he seemingly remains out of favor at Goodison Park despite starting against Rotherham, where Silva fielded a heavily rotated line-up.
Still, the manager claims he believes in the player and is keen to work with him as part of the squad. He admits, however, that it’s sometimes hard to keep a player who wants to play but isn’t getting much game-time, and adds that being in the starting XI for Everton is hard for any player, not just Ramirez.
The former Barcelona player endured a very disappointing 2017/18 season, both with Everton where he netted only once in 15 games, and with Sevilla where he appeared in 18 matches without a single strike.
Both Real Sociedad and Celta Vigo have expressed an interest in his signature.
