Espanyol have announced on their official website that they have signed winger Simao Sabrosa from Besiktas.
The veteran midfielder has agreed a two-year contract with the La Liga side subject to passing a medical at Cornella El Prat.
The Portuguese international arrived to Espanyol on a free transfer after termination his contract with Besiktas.
Simao joined the Black Eagles from Atletico Madrid in January 2011 and went on to score 8 goals in 46 Turkish Super Lig appearances.
The 32-year-old also had spells with Barcelona and Benfica after leaving Sporting Lisbon in July 1999 before making a €20 million move to Vicente Calderon in the summer of 2007.
Simao has so far scored 23 goals in 157 La Liga games playing for Barcelona and Atletico Madrid.
He is now set to become Espanyol’s second high-profile signing of the summer, following the capture of Joan Capdevilla.
