Atletico Madrid chiefs are confident winger Simao Sabrosa will sign a new deal with the club despite a number of clubs showing interest in the Portuguese.
Simao’s contract with los Colchoneros expires at the end of the season but the club officials are eager to hold on to their star player, and they have already opened talks regarding the new deal.
The player seems to be perfectly happy with the progress the club have made over the last few years and he looks likely to remain at Vicente Calderon at least for another few years.
The 31-year-old had quickly become one of the key players at Atletico upon his arrival from Benfica and he had a big role to play in club’s quest for Europa League and European Super Cup titles.
