Atlético Madrid are without their Portuguese forward Simao for the coming three weeks, as result of a knee injury suffered on Wednesday.

In Wednesday’s match with Getafe, Simao had to come off after 68 minutes. Tests on Thursday pointed out that the player needs at least three weeks to recover.

This means that Simao misses the games with Sevilla, Marseille and Barcelona, and possibly Portugal’s international games in October.

Fellow countryman Maniche is struggling with back problems, but is expected to be fit for Atlético’s next match.

Coach Aguirre does have some good news though, as Dutch defender John Heitinga returns from his knee injury.
