Sporting CP midfielder Simeon Slavchev went on to reveal that he was the subject of quite a few proposals during the summer transfer window.
Having been deemed surplus to requirements at Estadio Jose Alvalade, the Bulgarian footballer was looking to leave the club and there was plenty of interest in his services.
Slavchev has now revealed that he was on the radar of clubs from England, France and Italy, but they eventually failed to match Sporting’s €3.5 million asking price.
“I’ve had three offers from English, French and an Italian club whose names I do not wish to disclose,” the 23-year-old told Bulgarian media.
“But, the negotiations were unsuccessful and Sporting did not sell me.”
Slavchev in turn agreed on another season-long loan with Lechia Gdansk, where he managed 23 league appearances last season.
The Bulgaria international also enjoyed loan stints with Bolton Wanderers and Apollon since joining Sporting from Lovech three years ago.
