Atletico Madrid head coach Diego Simeone admits his side are in a “difficult moment” but took full responsibility after Saturday’s 2-1 loss to Sevilla.
Atletico slumped to their third straight defeat in LaLiga, leaving them fifth on the table and 13 points behind leaders Real Madrid.
Felipe’s 33rd-minute header had levelled the game after Ivan Rakitic rifled in a seventh-minute opener for Sevilla. Lucas Ocampos forced home the winner in the 88th minute, condemning Atleti to another loss.
“We are going through a difficult moment, and the results are not there for us,” Simeone told reporters.
“But I have the same illusion as always. We have to work, recover players from injury and have confidence we can get back on track.
“We must seek to find the forcefulness, so things roll naturally for us, but the responsibility is mine, and we are going to take lessons moving forward, that is for sure.”
Atletico were without Antoine Griezmann, Jose Maria Gimenez, Stefan Savic and Sime Vrsaljko due to injury.
