Simeone couldn’t imagine Griezmann going to Barcelona

Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone has stated that he couldn’t imagine a scenario in which Antoine Griezmann jumped ship to Barcelona earlier this summer. For the longest time it seemed as if the Frenchman was on a collision course with the Nou Camp, whether that be due to rumours or his own body language. When push came to shove, however, Antoine wound up revealing that he’d be remaining with Atletico despite a lot of fans believing that it would’ve been in his best interest to leave.

The 27 year old made the jump over to Madrid from Real Sociedad back in 2014, and since then, he’s become a household name courtesy of his hard work, technique and overall goalscoring ability. He always did seem like a perfect fit for Barca, but as we look ahead to the future, it seems as if both he and Simeone are convinced that he’ll be staying put.
