Simeone hopes for Oblak contract extension

Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone has stated that he hopes Jan Oblak signs a new contract extension with the club, and also that the club are working in that direction. The 25 year old has made no secret of his frustrations with Atletico over the course of the last few months, and at one point, it seemed as if he’d leave prior to the close of the summer transfer window. Alas, he remains a big part of their squad, and Simeone wants that to be the case for many more years to come.

Earlier in the year Liverpool and Chelsea both had their eye on Oblak, but were unable to get respective deals done with Atletico. The keeper has made over 100 appearances for the club since joining back in 2014, but as we look ahead to January and next summer, there could be a string of other big European clubs being in line for a bid.
