Hertha regained top spot as they overcame VfL Borussia Mönchengladbach 2-1 at the Olympiastadion. “Now, from the last twelve matches we will win eight and after that we will celebrate with all of you at the town hall,” Hertha defender Josip Å imunic promised fans.

The club’s sporting director Dieter Hoeness, a five-time champion with Bayern, has seen it all before, however, and sounded a note of caution: “We know what we can do but we also know what’s still missing. In some situations we are not clinical enough. We’re on top now, but there are still a lot of matches to play.”
