Former Liverpool striker Florent Sinama-Pongolle has become the latest player to head to Russian Premier League.
The French striker has signed a two-year contract with Rostov, after arriving on a free transfer from Sporting Lisbon.
The 27-year-old explains he is looking forward to the new challenge in his career.
“I consider this move to Russia a new challenge in my career,” the Frenchman said to club’s official website.
Florent Sinama-Pongolle came through the famous Le Havre youth academy and spent two seasons with the French club before joining Liverpool in the summer of 2003.
Despite showing some potential at Anfield, his career in England never really kicked off, and the player was sold to Recreativo Huelva four years later.
The forward managed to kick-start his career in Spain and soon earned a move to Atletico Madrid, but his career once again started taking the wrong turn.
Sinama Pongolle has spent last two seasons on loan at Real Zaragoza and Saint Etienne respectively, scoring a total of 8 goals in 47 league appearances.
