Martin Skrtel has confirmed that talks have been held with Glasgow Rangers about a potential move this summer, according to Daily Record.
The experienced defender started his career at Slovakian side Trenčin before joining Zenit St Petersburg in 2004. He moved to Liverpool in January 2008 and played alongside current Rangers manager Steven Gerrard until Gerrard’s departure to LA Galaxy in the summer of 2015. In total, he made 320 appearances for the Reds and won the 2012 League Cup with them, before leaving to join Fenerbahce in a reported £5 million deal one year after his former captain.
He has now revealed that talks have been held over a possible reunion with Gerrard, but he also admitted that nothing had been agreed yet. Apart from Rangers, his agent has also talked to Basaksehir, Parma, Olympiacos and Fenerbahce, with whom his contract expired.
Daily Record believe the move remains unlikely, with Rangers poised to complete a move for Filip Helander of Bologna, who is set to have his medical today (Saturday) ahead of a deal believed to be around £3.5 million.
