Slovakian defender Martin Skrtel could soon be leaving Anfield, reports English newspaper Liverpool Echo.
The centre-back was dropped from the starting line-up last season as Jamie Carragher partnered Daniel Agger in the heart of defence, and his status at the club hasn’t improved much since.
Given that Agger and Toure have formed the defensive pairing this term, Skrtel has seen little playing time, although he did deputize for the Ivorian in the derby match against Manchester United.
Nevertheless, with Mamadou Sakho and Tiago Ilori arriving on transfer deadline day, everything suggests the 28-year-old is nearing the Anfield exit door.
Considering that Napoli and his former club Zenit have expressed interest, Skrtel should have no shortage of offers in January, and chances are the Reds will be prepared to listen to offers for his services.
The Slovakia international has been at the club for over five years now, and has made a total of 152 Premier League appearances for the Reds.
