Martin Skrtel is set to sign a new contract with Liverpool, according to Sky Sports.
The Slovakia international, who is about to enter the final year of his current deal with the Reds, has been strongly linked with a move away from Anfield but is now on the verge of committing his immediate future to the club.
Since arriving on Merseyside in January 2008, the centre-back has racked up almost three hundred appearances in all competitions, scoring seventeen goals while he was part of the squad that won the League Cup in 2012.
The former Zenit St Petersburg man also has five goals in seventy-three outings for his country, and played at the 2010 World Cup finals in South Africa.
He joins a number of his teammates in signig new deals with the club, with Jordan Henderson, Daniel Sturridge, Philippe Coutinho and Jordan Ibe also putting pen to paper in the last twelve months.
