Russian Premier League side Lokomotiv Moscow have announced that Croatia boss Slaven Bilic will take over the reigns at the club after the European Championship.
The Russian giants have announced on their official website that current coach Jose Couceiro is set to leave the club when his contract expires at the end of the season.
At the same time, Lokomotiv Moscow have revealed that Slaven Bilic will take over the reigns ahead of the new season.
Club president Olga Smorodskaya explained that the Croatian coach also had offers from a number of top European clubs.
“I’m very glad that we have managed to sign a contract with such a strong and renowned coach,” Olga Smorodskaya told the club’s official website.
“Bilic is one of the best coaches in Europe, and in fighting for him we had to hold off serious competition from many clubs, including from the English Premier League.
“I don’t doubt that Bilic will take our team to a new level and find success with Lokomotiv.”
The Railroaders have just finished their league campaign in 7th place and they are hoping Bilic can help them return to old glory days.
The Croatian coach recently hinted he was looking to return to club management after the European Championship, but a move to Russian Premier League has come as a bit of a surprise when he was heavily tipped to return to English Premiership.
