Competition: Irish Premier Division
Market: Sligo Rovers to score anytime
Odds: 4/6 @ 888sport
Opening the weekend fixtures still sat in the European spots, a high-flying Sligo Rovers will travel to Richmond Park on Saturday evening.
Starting with the hosts, putting in what some around Richmond Park are branding a season-worst display last time out, St. Patrick’s were blown away thanks to a thumping 3-0 defeat away at Waterford. In the midst of what has been a woeful run of form over the past month and suddenly scrapping it at the foot of the Premier Division table, the mood in Stephen O’Donnell’s camp should be at a real low. Also crashing out of the FAI Cup courtesy of a 1-0 defeat against rock-bottom Finn Harps on the road last month, St. Patrick’s have now lost three of their last four contests and have just a single point to their name over the past four weeks. Freefalling down the table, there is no doubt that O’Donnell will have a real headache over his side’s continued issues in front of goal. Drawing another blank against Waterford last week, Saturday’s hosts have now gone over 400 minutes without finding the net.
As for the visitors, while the mood around Richmond Park might be at a real low, Sligo Rovers find themselves in the midst of what has been a stunning run of form. Skyrocketing up the table and suddenly sat in the top-three, the Red and Whites once again impressed in what was a 3-1 romp at home against the Finn Harps last week. Enjoying by far their brightest spell of the season so far and with a real reputation for their recent showings in the final third, Head Coach Liam Buckley has seen his side win each of their last four contests on the bounce. Also coming past First Division outfit UCD in the FAI Cup earlier in the month, there is no doubt that Sligo will make the trip to Dublin confident of upsetting the odds this weekend.
Bet: Sligo Rovers 4/6 to score anytime against St. Patrick’s Athletic in Saturday’s Irish Premier Division matchup @ 888sport
