(GSM) – Cesc Fabregas has admitted that Arsenal need to cut out the careless mistakes that have cost them important points in key matches this season.
Arsenal must overturn a 2-1 deficit in their Champions League tie against Porto after conceding two soft goals in the first leg in Portugal on Wednesday night.
Lukasz Fabianski spilled a right-wing cross for Porto’s opener and then picked up a back-pass to present Ruben Micael with the chance to set up Falcao.
Disheartening defeats against Chelsea and Manchester United have also damaged Arsenal’s title chances and Fabregas concedes he is frustrated by the situation.
The Spanish midfielder does not see other sides making such sloppy errors and has urged his team-mates to step it up if they want to start winning trophies again.
“The other top teams don’t make these mistakes as often as we do,” Fabregas said in the Daily Mail.
“Sometimes we make mistakes that at the top level you pay for and this is one of those nights.
“It happened against Chelsea and Man United and now again so I think we have to try to find the solution to these problems because it is costing us many, many things.”
