The future of winger Andwele Slory at Adelaide United is in doubt with the Dutch international expected to walk out on the club.
Slory, 29, did not travel with his Adelaide teammates to New Zealand on the weekend, with the two-time international still recovering from a hamstring injury.
But Slory – who has started just four matches this season – is reportedly unhappy at the club and is alleged to have called a meeting with manager Rini Coolen and the club’s football department to discuss his playing future.
The former Feyenoord and West Bromwich Albion player has less than six months remaining on his contract and spoke to Coolen twice last week about his playing future, before the meeting on Monday.
“I’m not sure (if Slory will stay) a lot of things are up to the player,” Coolen told The Adelaide Advertiser.
“What he wants and how he sees his future. He has his own opinion and thoughts about it. At the moment it hasn’t worked out very well.”
In other Adelaide United news, the seriousness of the foot injury suffered by Cassio will not be determined until he has more scans on Tuesday.
Cassio was substituted in the first half of Adelaide’s 1-1 draw with the Phoenix after rolling his ankle, but scans on Monday showed that he had not broken any bones in his ankle.
He will now undergo an MRI which should determine if he has suffered ligament damage.
