(GSM) – Rangers boss Walter Smith has denied any bids made for Algeria defender Madjid Bougherra.
Bougherra, who helped Algeria to a goalless draw against England in the group stages of the World Cup this summer, has been continuously linked with a move away from Ibrox.
However, Smith is sure that the Algerian could stay at the Glasgow club with the absence of any concrete enquiries for the stopper or any other of his players, with the exception of Kevin Thomson, who has attracted interest from Middlesbrough.
“We had an enquiry from Hamburger about a month ago but they haven’t followed that up,” said Smith.
“Hopefully that will be the only one we get in his case. He is coming back to us at the weekend following his World Cup campaign.”
The 62-year-old added: “We have had no more enquiries for any of our players.”
