Italian TV station RAI claims that Anzhi have opened talks to sign Inter playmaker Wesley Sneijder.
The Russian Premier League club have been following the player’s situation for a while and finally decided to make their move.
Sneijder is widely tipped to leave Inter in January after he rejected a wage cut and was subsequently frozen out of the squad at Giuseppe Meazza.
The Dutchman was not thought to be keen on a move to Russia, but with the surprising lack of interest from Europe’s top sides, he might not have another choice if he wants to leave the Neroazzurri this winter.
QPR boss Harry Redknapp admitted that the Loftus Road outfit were unlikely to sign the Netherlands international, while top Premier League clubs have failed to step up their interest in the midfielder.
Anzhi Makhachkala officials believe a hefty contract offer could persuade Sneijder to change his mind about a switch to Russia.
