Galatasaray midfielder Wesley Sneijder admits that he is flattered by the reported interest from Manchester United.
The former Netherlands boss Louis van Gaal is believed to be looking to lure the experienced footballer to Old Trafford, with a January bid being mooted.
However, while Sneijder is clearly proud to be linked with such a big club, he says the deal is highly unlikely to materialise.
“It’s good to hear that Louis van Gaal is interested in me, he is an absolute expert”, Sneijder told Turkish newspaper AMK Spor.
“But it’s very hard to convince me to transfer. I feel very good at Galatasaray and Istanbul is excellent.”
While Sneijder had been linked with a move away from Istanbul in the summer transfer window, club chairman Unal Aysal made it clear that the Dutch footballer would only leave if his €20 million release clause is met.
Manchester United would obviously have no problems matching the buy-out clause, but it would appear as though defensive reinforcements will be the priority in January.
Wesley Sneijder, 30, has been at Galatasaray since January 2013, and he has managed a total of 15 goals in 43 Turkish Super Lig outings.
