Sneijder drops biggest quit hint yet
Inter midfielder Wasley Sneijder has revealed that he could be sold this summer amidst interest from Manchester United and Manchester City.
The Dutch international has been widely tipped to join one of the Manchester rivals this summer, and he has now admitted that there is some truth in the speculations.
The Neroazzurri need the money from his transfer to balance the books and they are likely to sell the midfielder if someone offers €36 million.
“I only know Inter need money and I could leave if the right offer comes in,” Sneijder told Voetbal International.
“I have a five-day holiday after Wednesday’s friendly against England and I hope the issues regarding my future can be clarified during that time off.
The 27-year-old has welcomed interest from Manchester rivals.
“I am proud to hear both United and City are interested in me, but so far I have not had contact with either club.
“When it comes to my future, that is all I can say.”
Arsenal target wants Premier League move
Werder Bremen defender Per Mertesacker has hinted at a possible departure this summer.
The Germany international, who is a target for Arsenal, has only recently recovered from a heel injury, but it looks as though he has now set his sights on leaving the club.
“For a national team player it is a good thing to get experience of playing abroad,” Mertesacker was quoted as saying by Bild.
“I have said that England excites me.”
Werder chief Klaus Alofs says the club are prepared to cash in on their prized asset.
“If he says that he wants to do something different and it is interesting to us, we will sit together.
”We have enough central defenders.”
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is likely to be delighted by the recent developments as he is desperate to sign another central defender.
The Frenchman has been tracking Mertesacker for quite a while now and he could now make a formal bid for the Germany international.
Chelsea and Roma battling for Porto star
Chelsea and Roma are set to enter a real bidding war for Porto midfielder Fernando, Il Corriere dello Sport has reported.
The 24-year-old has attracted a lot of interest with his performances last season and he is now looking to leave Porto for a bigger club.
The Dragons are reportedly ready to cash in on their star player, as witnessed by coach Vitor Pereira’s decision not to include the Brazilian in the squad for the Portuguese Super Cup game.
Roma, now coached by Luis Enrique, are looking to add few more quality players to the squad and they are ready to bid for Fernando.
The Giallorossi sporting director Walter Sabatini recently expressed his desire to sign three or four new players before the end of the transfer window and Fernando could be one of them.
The Serie A side could, however, face a stiff competition from Chelsea as new coach Andre Villas-Boas would like to get reunited with Fernando as he looks to add some fresh blood to his ageing squad.
The holding midfielder has been one of the key players for Porto last season, with the Dragons going on to win Europa League and Portuguese League titles.
