Manchester United target Wesley Sneijder has not ruled out leaving Inter Milan, as speculation linking him to Old Trafford mounts.

The 27-year-old playmaker is a target of United manager Sir Alex Ferguson and has left the door open for a sensational switch to the English Premier League.

“What will happen? We’ll see,” Sneijder said on Sunday. “There is always a chance that something will happen, but we will see.”

“There is always speculation. I’ve said before, I’ve played for almost 10 years at the highest level and every year there is speculation.”

Speaking after Inter were beaten 3-0 by Manchester City in the Dublin Super Cup, the Dutchman also insisted he remains happy to stay at the San Siro.

“As you can see, I’m still here,” he continued.

“I’m always happy. I’m a happy guy. I’m just happy to train every day with my colleagues and to train every day and to play my game for the fans.”

“I’ve played in many competitions. I started in Holland, then played in Spain and now the Italian league, and I’m still here.”

“We will see what happens but I’m happy here.”

United reportedly approached Sneijder with a 40-million-euro offer earlier in the transfer window, which has prompted Inter boss Gian Piero Gasperini to remind the English giants that future negotiations should be conducted between the clubs directly.

“I appreciate there’s been an offer, but it’s with Inter the negotiations should take place,” Gasperini said.

“I’m not necessarily worried, it’s normal in this time to have this type of situation. The market is open to August 31, and it will continue to happen until then. It’s not just Inter, it’s the same with other big clubs who have player that are object of desire for big clubs.”

Nicely put from Gasperini, very open very constructive comments highlighting the need for negotiations to be on a club-to-club basis rather than on a club-to-player approach.

Now can my team just sort this out as soon as possible.I think the key issue to acquire a versatile, tried and tested midfielder to fill the hole left by Scholes.

Who we acquire is really immaterial as long as we get someone with the required qualities.
