Real Sociedad have confirmed the signing of Alexander Isak from Borussia Dortmund.
The Swedish striker started his professional career in Allsvenskan (Swedish top flight) with AIK back in 2016. Having made 29 appearances and scored 13 goals in all competitions for his first club, he moved to Dortmund and had been alternating between the first and the reserve team at the Signal Iduna Park. He played 12 times for the first team in 2017/18, but since then he hasn’t featured in a Dortmund shirt at all. In January this year, he was loaned to Willem II in the Eredivisie where he kept putting in impressive performances, scoring 14 times in 18 games.
Still only 19 he now goes to Spain in search of regular game-time, as Sociedad seek to improve on their ninth-place finish from this term and to possibly qualify for Europe next time around. For his part, Isak said he chose this club because of their commitment to working with young players.
