Algerian winger Sofiane Feghouli has made it clear that he would prefer to remain at Mestalla in spite of club’s recent struggles.
Los Che are going through one of the most difficult campaigns in recent years and they are winless in last 13 La Liga fixtures.
On top of that, the club face a real fight to keep hold of star player Sofiane Feghouli, who is on the radar of several top European sides.
But, despite the fact that his current contract is due to expire in the summer, the 26-year-old is adamant that he hopes his agent and the club will eventually find an agreement over a new deal.
“It’s good to know I have their support. It takes time, for the simple and valid reason that both sides are looking for the deal,” Feghouli confessed to La Gazette du Fennec.
“There have been players renewing before me, so I’m the last one. I want to extend my adventure with Valencia, I’m happy here and in this League and I love the city and the fans.
“There are details as to why the club and my representatives haven’t reached agreement. I’m positive and patient, but both parties have to be happy. There’s no reason to break apart.
“I’m at a top club. There aren’t many bigger. I see myself here for the long-term. The grass isn’t always greener elsewhere.”
Having spent last five and a half years at Mestalla, Feghouli has clearly fallen in love with the club, but even the Valencia fans are likely to be surprised by his loyalty given the problems los Che find themselves in at the moment.
