According to Sky Sports, Sokratis Papastathopoulos has arrived in London and will complete his move to Arsenal from Borussia Dortmund. Fans and media members alike have been well aware of the deal for quite some time now, but the Gunners are only just getting around to announcing it for a variety of reasons. Beyond that, though, the important thing is that the £17 million move is wrapped up with well over a month still remaining until the domestic season gets underway.
Sokratis will add some much-needed stability to the Arsenal defence, which seems to be Unai Emery’s main priority during his first transfer window in charge at the Emirates. The Greek sensation has been a wanted man over the summer, with his father even suggesting that he rejected a move to PL giants Manchester United in favour of a switch to Arsenal.
Sokratis will likely begin training straight away and will be fresh off of a summer with no World Cup.
