According to a recent report from Sport, Real Madrid manager Santiago Solari is set to remain as the club’s boss until at least Monday. They are said to be conducting a thorough search for a replacement, with Florentino Perez reportedly wanting a ‘top-level’ coach to come into the role, with the main concern being that Real could slip out of the top four before the season comes to an end.
Jose Mourinho is considered to be the club’s primary target, although the belief is that he would only take over on an interim basis. This would serve as quite an amusing dose of irony for a lot of fans, after Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was brought into Manchester United to replace Jose – also on an interim basis.
Solari was brought in to try and steady the ship at the Bernabeu, and while you could argue that he gave it his best shot, it seemed as if this season was always destined to be a failure.
