According to a recent report from Marca, it does indeed seem like Santiago Solari will be remaining as Real Madrid manager until the end of the season. There was contemplation over whether or not to pull the trigger on sacking him after the loss to Ajax, but with no replacement (that they consider suitable) currently available, they’ve decided to let him ride it out until the end of the campaign.
Solari was brought into the Bernabeu to steady the ship and bring some kind of balance back to the club. While he may have accomplished that goal initially, he hasn’t been able to keep it up ever since.
Real are out of the Champions League, out of the Copa del Rey, and have no realistic chance of winning the La Liga title. A big reset is needed next season, and it’s a virtual certainty that Solari isn’t going to play any kind of major role in that revival.
