Trond Sollied is no longer head coach of Dutch side SC Heerenveen. After a bad start of the competition the club and the coach decided to end the cooperation.

Sollied’s team had a bad opening of the season: only four points of the possible fifteen were gathered in the first five matches.

Last year Sollied was very successful with Heerenveen: he ended fifth in the competition and managed to win the national cup.

By beating Steve McLaren’s FC Twente in the final the Norwegian trainer managed to raise a national cup for the fifth time in his successful career.

The management of Heerenveen said that `cultural differences` were the main reason for the break up between Sollied and the club.

Before his period with Heerenveen Sollied worked for FK Bodo Glimt and Rosenborg BK in his home country, Belgian clubs AA Gent and Club Brugge, Greek side Olympiakos Pireaus and again AA Gent.
