As reported by Sky Sports, Tottenham Hotspur forward Heung-Min Son is set to negotiate a new deal with the North-London club.
Spurs have had a great couple of seasons with the team’s spine remaining mostly intact. The only player they have so far lost to a bigger club is Kyle Walker, but with the acquisition of Serge Aurier and good performances by Kieran Trippier, the absence of the England right-back has hardly been felt at all.
However, Mauricio Pochettino’s team still don’t have a trophy to show for their efforts, and the prospect of key players wanting to move on soon is quite realistic if that doesn’t change soon. Along with Son, the likes of Harry Kane, Dele Alli, Christian Eriksen and Toby Aldeweireld are certain to have many suitors should they give off a sign of desire to leave.
Spurs will therefore try and guard themselves from such a fate, and tying Son down to a new long-term contract would be a good step in that direction.
