According to a recent report from Corriere dello Sport, Paulo Sousa is considered to be the frontrunner to replace Eusebio Di Francesco at Roma. Sousa, who formerly managed Fiorentina and was last in charge of Tianjin Quanjian, has reportedly held talks with Franco Baldini who is the director at Roma. Following on from their derby day defeat against Lazio at the weekend, they seem to be intent on bringing in someone new sooner rather than later.
His position at the club is said to depend on how they do in their upcoming Champions League game against Portuguese giants Porto. Roma lead 2-1 following the first leg encounter between the two teams, but there’s still a lot of football left to be played in the second leg.
Sousa has managed a series of clubs during his time in management such as Basel, Maccabi Tel Aviv, Swansea, Leicester and more. As a boss, he has won league titles in two different countries – Switzerland and Israel.
