(GSM) – South Africa put together their best match in recent memory on Sunday as they bested Thailand, 4-0, in a friendly held to open up Mbombela Stadium in Nelspruit, one of the venues for the World Cup finals.

It was likely that the Thai players weren’t completely in the game given the violent political turmoil taking place at the moment in Bangkok.

Bafana Bafana took the lead in the 23rd minute when Siphiwe Tshabalala beat Thai goalkeeper Kawan Thamsatchanan.

Katlego Mphela then took over when he scored in the 30th minute to make it 2-0 and again four minutes later to put the South Africans three goals to the good.

The tempo settled after that, but Bernard Parker added the fourth goal a minute from time to seal a good win for South Africa.
