Premier League outfit Southampton have reached an agreement to recruit Portuguese defender Cedric Soares from Sporting Lisbon, Record has suggested.
The Saints were looking to a sign a replacement for Nathaniel Clyne and the latest report suggest they have succeeded in their quest.
According to Record, Sporting Lisbon accepted their €5 million offer for Cedric Soares, with the deal set to be completed in the coming days.
The Lions had no choice but to cash in on their prized asset seeing that his contract was due to expire in June 2016 and the defender had expressed his desire to leave.
Southampton in turn had to beat off competition from a number of Bundesliga sides as well as Napoli to secure the signature of the Portugal international.
Cedric Soares, 23, came through the youth ranks at Estadio Jose Alvalade and went on to make 67 league appearances for the Portuguese giants.
