Premier League high flyers Southampton are set to complete a deal for Lille winger Sofiane Boufal, L’Equipe understands.
The Saints are in advanced talks with les Dogues as they are reportedly ready to match the €20 million asking price.
New Southampton manager Claude Puel knows Boufal well from his time in French Ligue 1 and he believes the 22-year-old will accept a long-term contract worth €2.8 million per season.
Lille have no choice but to cash in on their prized asset seeing that they need money from the sale to comply with the guidelines of the National Directorate of Management Control (DNCG).
After enjoying a bright start to his spell with les Dogues, Boufal became one of Ligue 1’s most sought-after footballers, with PSG, Liverpool, Tottenham and few other clubs expressing interest in his services.
However, Southampton are the first club ready to match Lille’s valuation and everything suggests they will complete the deal well ahead of the transfer deadline.
