BBC Sport has learned that Southampton have had a £12 million offer accepted for Hull City striker Shane Long.
The Saints have money to spend after cashing in on Rickie Lambert, Adam Lallana, Luke Shaw, Dejan Lovren and Calum Chambers, and they have so far signed Graziano Pelle, Dusan Tadic, Fraser Forster, Ryan Bertrand and Saphir Taider.
Republic of Ireland striker Shane Long looks set to become their sixth signing of the transfer window with the two clubs having reportedly agreed on a transfer fee.
All that’s left is for the 27-year-old to agree personal terms with the club and bar any surprises he will be vying fellow summer signing Graziano Pelle for a starting berth.
Shane Long only joined the Tigers in January from West Brom, and he went on to score 4 goals in 15 Premier League starts for the club. He, however, failed to score a single goal in seven appearances for Ireland during the 2014 World Cup qualifying campaign.
