Race hots up for young Portugal defender Ruben Semedo as Premier League rivals Southampton and Everton join the chase for the 22-year-old, according to reports from the Portuguese daily Abola.
Versatile defender who can successful slot in the defensive midfield position as well has been turning plenty of heads lately thanks to his commanding displays for Sporting CP.
Semedo has so far made 18 Primeira Liga appearances for his club, whereas he also played all six matches in his team’s Champions League group stage efforts.
Italian fallen giants AC Milan have expressed their interest in grabbing the player who signed a new deal with Sporting earlier this month, but Southampton and Everton have joined in hoping to bring the exciting prospect to the Premier League.
Saints boss Claude Puel has identified Semedo as the perfect replacement for Jose Fonte, whereas Ronaldo Koeman is believed to be a huge admirer of the £20 million-rated Portugal international.
