Southampton eye Alcacer

Southampton have opened talks with Barcelona over the potential signing of forward Paco Alcacer, according to the Mirror.

Ligue 1 outfit Lille are also keen on securing the services of the Spain international, who signed for the Catalan club just over twelve months ago.

The twenty-four year old made twenty-eight appearances in all competitions for Barca last season, scoring eight goals – one of which came in the Copa Del Rey final victory over Alaves.

However, he has only played twice in the league so far this season with just one of those outings coming as a start.

Southampton are keen to add more firepower to their attack after scoring just seven goals in their opening eight league games this campaign, with three of those strikes coming from Italy international Manolo Gabbiadini.

The Saints take on West Bromwich Albion on Saturday evening and can be backed at 4/5 for the win.
