Premier League high-flyers Southampton are considering a summer bid for Real Madrid wonderkid Martin Odegaard, the Daily Mirror has suggested.
The 16-year-old snubbed interest from a host of Europe’s top sides to join los Blancos in the winter transfer window and he has already showed some promise playing for the reserves.
And after Villarreal expressed their interest to sign the youngster on a season-long loan, Southampton are reportedly looking to do the same.
The Saints manager Ronald Koeman is a big fan of the Norwegian midfielder and he has sent scouts to check on his progress last weekend.
Southampton were one of the sides that attempted to recruit the Norway international and they clearly remain keen on luring him to St Mary’s, albeit on short-term basis.
Martin Odegaard has so far made six appearances for Real Madrid Castilla, scoring one goal in the process. Despite his fragile age, the midfielder already has 3 Norway caps to his name.
