Southampton are edging closer to signing Italian striker Pablo Daniel Osvaldo from Roma, reports Il Corriere dello Sport.
The Saints have had an €18 million bid accepted for the highly rated forward, but persuading the 27-year-old that his future lies at St Mary’s will be no easy task.
Osvaldo has already rejected several offers as he wants to move to London, with Tottenham reportedly keen on his services.
However, the Saints are hoping a four-year deal worth €2.5 million per campaign would do the trick, especially since Southampton is mere two-hour drive away from England’s capital.
Roma officials are hoping to get rid of the striker in the summer transfer window and having finally received an offer they can’t refuse, they will go the extra mile to ensure the deal does not fall through.
Pablo Daniel Osvaldo has built quite a reputation in Italian Serie A, having scored 27 goals in 55 league matches for the Giallorossi.
