Southampton have made a move to sign Nicolas Jackson from Villarreal in the January transfer window, according to The Athletic. The report has claimed that the Premier League club have approached the attacker’s agents to bring him to St. Mary’s Stadium in the middle of the season.
The Saints are reportedly in talks with Jackson’s representatives about a six-month loan deal with an option to make it permanent in the summer of 2023. Southampton have yet to hold talks with La Liga club Villarreal over the 21-year-old, but the Spanish club are willing to sell him.
Jackson has made eight starts and six substitute appearances in La Liga for Villarreal so far this season, scoring two goals and providing two assists in the process. The youngster has also made two starts and four substitute appearances in the UEFA Europa Conference League for the Yellow Submarine so far this campaign, scoring one goal in the process. Jackson made one substitute appearance for Senegal at the 2022 Qatar World Cup.
