Southampton are keen on signing Queens Park Rangers defender Steven Caulker, according to the Mail Online.
The south coast club want to take the England international on loan for the forthcoming season, with a view to a permanent move.
Caulker only moved to Loftus Road from Cardiff City twelve months ago, and made thirty-six appearances for the club in all competitions, scoring his one and only goal in a 2-2 draw with Stoke City back in September.
He began his career with Tottenham Hotspur, but spent much of his time at Spurs out on loan in spells with Yeovil Town, Bristol City and Swansea City.
His one and only cap for his country came in a 4-2 friendly defeat to Sweden in November 2012.
West Bromwich Albion have also been linked with a move for the twenty-three year old, Saints boss Ronald Koeman is keen to secure his services as he looks for a replacement for Toby Alderwiereld, who having spent last season on loan at St Mary’s Stadium, has signed for Tottenham.
