Southampton are plotting a move for Galatasaray midfielder Wesley Sneijder, according to the Mirror.
Having started the season superbly, the south coast side have lost their last five games in all competitions including last night’s 1-0 defeat to League One side Sheffield United in the quarter finals of the Capital One Cup.
Manager Ronald Koeman shares an agent with fellow Dutchman Sneijder, and is keen to strike a deal as he looks to return the club form.
The 30 year old, who has won league titles in the Netherlands, Spain, Italy and Turkey, is one of a number of players linked with a move away from Istanbul as Galatasaray look to trim their wage bill.
Southampton’s loss to Burnley on Saturday afternoon leaves them in fifth place in the Premier League, two points behind fifth place West Ham United, and they can now be backed at 6/1 to finish in the top four.
