Southampton are interested in signing Jeremie Frimpong from Celtic in the January transfer window, according to The Scottish Sun. The report has claimed that a number of clubs in the Championship in England are also keen on securing the services of the 19-year-old right-back.
Frimpong joined Celtic from Manchester City in the summer of 2019 and has established himself as an important player for the team. The Netherlands Under-20 international has played over 40 times in all competitions for the Hoops and has scored three goals and provided six assists.
With Celtic aiming to win the Scottish Premiership title for the 10th season in a row in 2020-21, it is hard to see the Glasgow giants sell the youngster in the middle of the season. It is very likely that Southampton and clubs in the Championship in England will have to wait until the summer of 2021 to secure the services of the right-back.
