Southampton’s busy summer continues, with the club officially confirming the signing of Jannik Vestergaard from Borussia Monchengladbach. The deal, which is said to be worth £20 million, will tie Jannik down to a four-year deal at St Mary’s as the Saints aim to improve upon their poor outing in the Premier League last season.
West Ham United were said to be another PL club who were interested in acquiring Vestergaard, but the Hammers weren’t quite able to get the deal over the line. Vestergaard was a part of Denmark’s World Cup squad as they managed to progress to the Round of 16, and now, he’ll be aiming to become Southampton’s next big thing as they attempt to rebuild the club from the ground up.
Vestergaard completed his medical on Thursday and will likely get stuck straight into training with just a few weeks remaining until the 2018/19 Premier League season kicks off.
