Gareth Southgate is set to sign a new four-year deal with England, according to Sky Sports.
The forty-eight-year old led the Three Lions to the semi-finals of this summer’s World Cup finals and is set to be rewarded with a contract that will included the tournament in Qatar in 2022.
Negotiations between Southgate and the FA are at an advanced stage, with English football’s governing body keen not to lose the former defender to a club.
Since replacing Sam Allardyce in September 2016, Southgate’s record reads played twenty-seven, won fourteen, drawn seven lost six.
Prior to taking charge of the senior team he had a successful three-year stint in charge of England’s U21s while his only other managerial job came at Middlesbrough, who he took over after retiring from playing.
As a player he was capped fifty-seven times for his country, scoring twice and playing in three major tournaments.
